The Jewish Democratic Council of America is launching a new streaming and digital ad campaign targeting Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) and boosting his Democratic opponent, Cait Conley.
The ad is part of a $300,000 national midterm campaign by JDCA that aims to reach 4 million Jewish voters by Election Day, with other ads running in Ohio, Michigan, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, Iowa and every district that the Cook Political Report rates as a toss-up.
The anti-Lawler ad hits the two-term Republican, who represents Westchester and Rockland Counties, over his ties to President Donald Trump, featuring footage of the two together.
The ad accuses Lawler of staying silent in the face of antisemitism from the Trump administration — though Lawler has been among the most outspoken and active lawmakers on combating antisemitism on Capitol Hill.
“Donald Trump is lucky to have Mike Lawler, we’re lucky to have Cait Conley,” the ad states.
Conley has also pledged to be outspoken against antisemitism if elected.
In the district, JDCA held a canvassing event with Conley’s campaign and the Westchester Jewish Democrats on Sunday.
“NY-17 has the largest Jewish voting population of any of the vitally important red-to-blue congressional districts in the country, with Jewish Americans making up nearly one-fifth of its population,” JDCA CEO Halie Soifer said. “We’re proud to support veteran Cait Conley in this race, and are confident a majority of Jewish voters in the district will vote for her because she aligns with our values.”
“This JDCA PAC ad sends a clear message that a vote for any Republican this year, including Mike Lawler, is a vote for Donald Trump’s extremism, cruelty, chaos, and corruption,” she continued. “This ad underscores that Trump has elevated and embraced dangerous far-right extremists and Mike Lawler has failed to hold the White House accountable. Conley, on the other hand, stands with Jewish voters on every key issue, including her opposition to Donald Trump.”
During his campaign, Lawler has highlighted his bipartisan record, and endorsements from some Jewish Democratic local officials.
JDCA is also running ads against Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH), as well as a national campaign that highlights a Young Republicans group chat where members expressed antisemitic sentiments and praised the Nazis, and includes a clip of Vice President JD Vance shrugging off the scandal.
This story was updated on Oct. 19 to reflect that the ad campaign will run on streaming services, not cable.
