Democratic Majority for Israel’s PAC announced Tuesday that it is launching a $1 million digital ad campaign targeting Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-VA), who is running against former Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA).

The toss-up Tidewater Virginia seat is a top target for Democrats in November, one of several districts that DMFI is working to help Democrats flip in the midterms. Luria was among the most outspoken supporters of Israel on Capitol Hill during her two terms in office.

The ad focuses on hitting Kiggans over her support of President Donald Trump’s policies, painting her as a pawn of the president who sides with him unquestioningly. 

It features a clip of Trump praising Kiggans.

 “Elaine Luria has a proven record of putting her district first, standing up for our servicemembers and veterans, and being a strong voice for the U.S.-Israel relationship. DMFI PAC’s Majority Project is fighting to win back the House, and VA-02 is one of the seats that will decide it. We’re all-in to send Elaine Luria back to Congress,” DMFI PAC Brian Romick said in a statement. 

Kiggans campaign spokesman Calvin Moore called the ad “blatantly false” and said “Elaine Luria’s allies should be ashamed to run it.”

“Their ‘100%’ lie relies on an outdated and inaccurate analysis white ignoring Congresswoman Kiggans’ clear record of standing up to both parties when it’s right for Virginia,” Moore said, referring to a claim in the ad that she has voted 100% of the time with Trump, which does not reflect her complete voting record. “From taking on her own party to protect green energy jobs to standing up to Republicans to protect affordable health care, it’s why Kiggans is consistently rated one of the most bipartisan Members of Congress.”

DMFI also launched paid advertisements backing Johnny Garcia and Marni von Wilpert, Democratic candidates in Texas and California, earlier in the congressional cycle.
