Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro launched a federal political action committee, New Path PAC, a major potential signal that he’s considering plans for a 2028 presidential campaign.
Shapiro has downplayed any presidential ambitions, but declined to commit, during a debate in early October, to serving out a full second term through 2030.
Shapiro has been a prodigious fundraiser, but has limited his involvement to state-level races. He said that he plans to use the new federal PAC to fundraise for and contribute to Democratic congressional candidates Bob Harvie, Bob Brooks, Paige Cognetti and Janelle Stelson, whom he has been working to elect in key swing districts.
He joins several other 2028 hopefuls, including Govs. Andy Beshear, JB Pritzker and Gavin Newsom, who have previously launched federal PACs.
