Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has, like her House counterpart, placed a procedural hold on a $2.8 billion sale of bombs to Israel, a source familiar with the situation told Jewish Insider.

Rep. Greg Meeks (D-NY), the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, announced last week that he had also placed a hold on the sale. Traditionally, such holds would prevent the sales from going forward, though the Trump administration has bypassed them in the past.

The sale is set to be financed by U.S. foreign military aid funding.

Other Senate Democrats have also vowed to attempt to block the sale, and a vote on the Senate floor on such a measure is likely should the administration move forward with the sale over Shaheen and Meeks’ objections.
