The Department of Justice announced Tuesday that a 26-year-old Ohio man had been arrested and charged for sending an email threatening to kill Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) and his family.

Fine has faced ongoing harassment and threats, some tied to his outspoken advocacy for Israel and his Jewish identity. According to Fine, the incident marked the fourth time an individual had been arrested for threatening his life in the past decade.

The email, sent to Fine on Florida’s primary election day last week, makes a series of explicit and violent threats against Fine and his family, including threatening to behead the congressman, and describing him as a “Nazi.” The email also includes a threat against President Donald Trump.

Fine said that the email far surpassed any of the previous death threats he had received in the past.

“If they think this will make me afraid, they are wrong,” Fine said on X. “There is no place in our political system for this. And those who make these threats — whether to a Republican or Democrat — will go to prison for a very long time.”

Fine thanked law enforcement for tracking down and arresting the perpetrator within 36 hours.

Numerous other Jewish members of Congress have also faced death threats or assassination attempts in recent years, as well as various incidents of harassment at their homes and in their communities, and many have said that they fear for their safety.
