Rep. Greg Landsman (D-OH) leaves the U.S. Capitol after the last votes of the week on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

The Congressional Leadership Fund, the independent expenditure arm of the House GOP aligned with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), is withdrawing plans for independent spending against Rep. Greg Landsman (D-OH), alongside several other districts the PAC is seen as essentially surrendering to Democrats, according to The New York Times.

Landsman, a moderate Jewish Democrat, is running for reelection in a district the Cook Political Report rates as “lean Democrat,” even though President Donald Trump won the district in 2024.

Landsman has been outspoken in support of Israel and the Jewish community, and was one of the small handful of Democrats who initially supported the war in Iran.

CLF is also reportedly pulling out of Michigan’s 8th Congressional District, held by Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet (D-MI), another moderate Democrat, as well as the districts currently held by Reps. Tom Kean Jr. (R-NJ), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) and Don Bacon (R-NE), who is retiring.

Democrats nominated moderate candidates in all those races.
