Pence to Headline Jewish Fundraiser for Trump in NYC

The Donald Trump campaign is expected to raise over a million dollars at a Jewish fundraiser in the Upper West Side of Manhattan on Thursday.

The fundraising event will be headlined by vice presidential candidate Mike Pence, according to an invite obtained by Jewish Insider.

Trump Victory Fund finance chair Lew Eisenberg, Trump’s finance chair Steven Mnuchin, Simona and Hart Haston, and RJC board member Marc Goldman are among those listed as co-hosts. Ticket costs are in the range of $1,000 per person to $10,000-$25,000 for a co-hosting role.

“I was pleased with the response,” Goldman, a Boca Raton-based investor who supported Scott Walker and Marco Rubio earlier in the Republican primary, told Jewish Insider. “There’s a lot of people on the Republican Jewish Coalition and others, who are deeply concerned about another Democrat getting in. We expect to have very good turnout and raise a lot of money.”

Jewish donors have been reluctant to contribute to the Trump campaign in the same numbers they gave to previous Republican nominees. Just last week, GOP megadonor Sheldon Adelson followed up on his initial promise to help elected Trump by donating $25 million to a new pro-Trump Super PAC.

A July report noted that Republican Jewish Coalition board members contributed a mere $5,400 to Trump’s campaign, compared to at least $16.5 million which they gave to Mitt Romney’s campaign and his super PAC at the same time in 2012. According to recent analysis by Five Thirty Eight, in 2012, 71 percent of the $160 million that Jewish donors gave to the two major-party nominees went to President Obama’s re-election campaign, while 29 percent went to Mitt Romney’s campaign. But in 2016, of the $372 million given to presidential nominees, 96 percent of all contributions went to Hillary Clinton and just 4 percent has gone to Trump, according to the report.

On Tuesday, the Trump campaign announced a massive fundraising haul of $18 million over the last 24 hours. At least $12 million was raised by members of the Trump campaign team and his family in a push billed as “National Call Day” in Trump Tower. “As a result of Donald Trump’s huge debate win last night, we had a massive fundraising day bringing in more than $18 million,” Mnuchin said in a statement.

“The National Call Day was a tremendous success. Many donors came on board as Donald J. Trump rolls on to victory,” added Eisenberg.
