Rubio Decries EU Labeling of Israeli Settlement Products
The attacks in Paris is a stark reminder that “evil is alive and well in the world,” Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio said on Sunday.
“We were reminded this week that, unfortunately, evil is alive and well in the world,” Rubio told hundreds at a pro-Israel rally in Miami Beach. “And we are reminded that we are still called to be vigilant and to defeat it in every form that it takes.”
The “Never Again” rally was organized by the Greater Miami Jewish Federation to bring attention to the recent terror attacks in Israel and to commemorate the 77th anniversary of Kristallnacht.
The Republican presidential hopeful stressed that the threat to Jerusalem and across Israel is the same as the threat to Paris, London and other U.S. cities. He further warned against “casting out one of our own” (Israel) in hopes of appeasing jihadis. “It [evil] changes names, it changes locations, but it is evil nonetheless,” Rubio stated.
Rubio also decried the recent decision by the EU to label Israeli products from West Bank settlements and the Golan Heights. “This rule applies to no other country is the world. Not to Russia, who invaded Georgia and Ukraine; not to China, who occupies Tibet, nor to occupied Western Cypress. The EU is singling out only Israel. This is a blatant double standard,” the Florida Senator said. “And it is, sadly and unfortunately, the product of a growing animosity in the old continent towards Israel. Special discriminatory laws that apply only to Jews are now being written [by the EU] to encourage Europeans to boycott Israeli products.”
