Larry Mizel Picks Rubio Over Bush

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio, riding high after a dominating performance at the 3rd Republican televised debate, is on the course of closing the deal with some heavy Jewish Republican donors.

Larry Mizel, described as the “go-to person” among Republican Jews, reportedly met with Rubio earlier this week and attended a Thursday morning fundraiser for the Florida Senator at the Brown Palace Hote in downtown Denver, Colorado.

A source close to Mizel told Politico, “He likes to keep his name out of it and work behind the scenes, but he’s with Marco.”

When asked if Mizel committed to exclusively backing Rubio, a source close to the campaign told Jewish Insider that “Mizel did not tell me one way or another.”

Mizel is a board member of the Republican Jewish Coalition and a close friend of Sheldon Adelson.

Last week, Mizel attended a fundraiser for Jeb Bush, headlined by former President George W. Bush. During the October 18 event, Bush 43 slammed Rubio as not being qualified to serve as president.

A similar line of attack on Rubio by Jeb during last night’s fell flat, as the junior Senator threw back a punch, causing significant damage to the Bush campaign.

UPDATED 10/30: Mizel, it appears, has already maxed out in individual contributions to the presidential campaigns of Bush (9/29/2015), Ted Cruz (4/13/2015), Donald Trump (9/11/2015) and Lindsey Graham (6/25/2015, per FEC filings.
