About the role: Jewish Insider is looking for a talented, hard-working U.S.-based editor with strong initiative and good news judgment to help edit and guide stories from inception to publication. The editor should be knowledgeable of institutional dynamics across the United States, particularly at leading cultural institutions and universities. 

About the publication: Jewish Insider (JI) covers politics and policy – and the people driving it – in the U.S., Middle East and beyond. JI’s curated newsletter, the Daily Kickoff, is read each day by leading members of Congress, government officials in Washington and capitals around the world, business executives, philanthropists, communal leaders and machers all over. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Help manage a team of writers, setting high standards for quality, accuracy and relevance in reporting. 
  • Collaborate with contributors to develop engaging and informative content that reflects the publication’s commitment to offering new ideas and initiatives. 
  • Curate and edit articles on politics and policy, ensuring they meet the highest standards of journalistic integrity and relevance. 
  • Foster a culture of excellence in storytelling, ensuring content is accessible and compelling for readers across different ideological backgrounds. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key figures in U.S. politics, business, and philanthropy to facilitate exclusive and insightful coverage. 
  • Stay informed about digital media trends and implement strategies to optimize content for online platforms. 
  • Work closely with the technical team to ensure the publication’s website and other digital channels provide a seamless and engaging user experience.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field. Proven experience as an editor in a digital news environment, with a focus on U.S. politics, business, or philanthropy. Deep understanding of the Jewish community and its intersections with politics, business, and philanthropy. Exceptional editing and writing skills, with a demonstrated ability to tell compelling stories. Knowledge of AP style is a plus. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Familiarity with digital media platforms and SEO best practices. Experience in managing and optimizing daily newsletters. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
