About Jewish Insider

Jewish Insider covers politics and policy, and the people driving it, in the United States, the Middle East and around the world. Our readers are the people making decisions in those arenas: members of Congress and their staffs, administration officials, donors, communal leaders and executives — across the ideological spectrum. They come to us for original reporting they can’t get elsewhere, delivered first.

Overview

Jewish Insider is looking for talented reporters who can identify interesting people, uncover underreported stories and bring readers inside the institutions and communities shaping the news.

We’re looking for curious, resourceful journalists with strong reporting instincts and an ability to develop sources and build relationships. The ideal candidate knows how to find a good story, ask the right questions and turn original reporting into engaging, well-written features.

  • Identify emerging leaders, interesting personalities and underreported developments across JI’s coverage areas.
  • Develop and maintain sources in Washington, in the Jewish communal world and across JI’s coverage areas.
  • Balance longer-term features with timely pieces tied to the news cycle.
  • Work with editors to sharpen story ideas and strengthen reporting.

Qualifications

  • Experience reporting and writing features, profiles or enterprise stories, with clips to show for it.
  • Strong news judgment, a clear writing voice and a record of original reporting.
  • Ability to build sources and work independently on deadline.
  • Familiarity with JI’s coverage areas, or the ability to develop expertise quickly.
  • Commitment to accuracy, fairness and high editorial standards.
