Jewish Insider is seeking breaking news reporters to join a fast-paced team covering developments in U.S. politics, Israel, foreign policy and the American Jewish community.
We’re looking for reporters who live and breathe the news. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, has strong news judgment, and thrives on following multiple stories at once. This role requires someone who can quickly identify what’s important, verify information, and turn developments into clear, accurate reporting for our readers.
You’ll work closely with editors and fellow reporters to deliver timely coverage while upholding Jewish Insider’s commitment to accuracy, fairness, and high editorial standards.
Responsibilities
- Monitor breaking news across multiple sources and identify stories that require immediate coverage
- Report and write accurate, timely stories under tight deadlines
- Develop and cultivate reliable sources to confirm and advance reporting
- Update stories as developments unfold and new information becomes available
- Produce clean, concise copy that is ready for publication
- Monitor live events, press conferences, interviews, and speeches for newsworthy developments
- Clip and package relevant video for editorial and social media use
- Assist in assembling breaking news packages, including links, embeds, and supporting materials
- Coordinate closely with editors and teammates to ensure comprehensive and accurate coverage
- Uphold Jewish Insider’s editorial standards, sourcing expectations, and AP style
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of newsroom reporting experience
- Exceptional news judgment and a genuine passion for following the news throughout the day
- Demonstrated ability to report accurately and write quickly under deadline pressure
- Strong understanding of U.S. politics, Israel, foreign policy, or related issues
- Experience covering breaking or developing news
- Familiarity with digital publishing tools and social media platforms
- Experience clipping or editing video for digital or social platforms is a plus
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as news warrants
- Clear, concise writing style and meticulous attention to detail
Schedule
Schedule: Sunday–Thursday
Hours: 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Israel or 2:00–11:00 a.m. ET
