Melissa Weiss is the executive editor of Jewish Insider, based in Tel Aviv. Since the Hamas-led Oct. 7, 2023, attacks, she has led JI’s rapidly expanding coverage of Israel, building out its reporting on the war and its aftermath, as well as the region’s shifting politics. Her writing focuses on the relationship between the United States and Israel, both the policy architecture that binds the two countries and the domestic currents that shape how Israelis and Americans understand the other.

Prior to joining JI in August 2019, Melissa spent nearly a decade working in strategic communications in the nonprofit sector in New York and Washington. A native of upstate New York, she has also lived in Seoul and Mexico City. Melissa is a 2008 graduate of the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism.
