The White House on Tuesday condemned the recent wave of terror attacks against Israelis but also called on “both sides” to show restraint.

WH Press Secretary Josh Earnest, during the daily press briefing, said, “The U.S. condemns in the possible terms the recent terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians, which resulted in the murder of three Israelis and left numerous others wounded.” But he added, “We continue to be deeply concerned about escalating tensions and urge all sides to take affirmative steps to restore calm and prevent actions that would further escalate tensions.”

Israel’s security cabinet convened in Jerusalem following the deadly terrorist attacks in its capital city on Tuesday and were expected to approve roadblocks on the roads leading to the Palestinian neighborhoods in East Jerusalem, as well as deploying military troops to assist police forces in major cities.

Addressing the nation, during a speech at the Knesset Tuesday evening, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel would settle its account with “murderers and those who want to kill, and anyone who helps them. Not only won’t they have any rights, but we will extract the full price from them.”

“Whoever raises a hand to hurt us – his hand will be cut off,” Netanyahu warned. “We will use every means at our disposal, and I do not hesitate to use them, in order to restore peace to the cities of Israel.”

The WH press secretary told reporters the administration has urged “both sides to try to exercise restraint.”
