Christie Blasts Clinton for Comparing NRA to the Iranians
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton compared the National Rifle Association (NRA) to Iranian hardliners and communists during a town hall meeting on Wednesday, The Hill reported.
“You know, the NRA’s position reminds me of negotiating with the Iranians or the communists,” Clinton was quoted as saying. “The NRA tries to keep gun owners — the ones who are members — really upset all the time so they can keep collecting their money, because they tell them they’re the only thing that’s going to stop the black helicopters from landing in the front yard and people’s guns being seized.”
On Friday, speaking at a campaign town hall meeting, Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie attacked Clinton for taking “leave of her senses” with the comments she had made.
“All she’s been doing for her entire time as Secretary of State and the President has been talking to the Iranians,” said Christie. “That’s how we got this awful, lousy deal on nuclear weapons with the Iranians. She’s saying you can’t talk to the Iranians. You’re right you can’t talk to the Iranians, that’s why you shouldn’t have made that deal, Madame Secretary.”
Christie took note of Hillary by comparing her to Sec. of State John Kerry, who was labeled as a flip-flopper during his Presidential run in 2004. “We all remember this right? You had a neighbor over in Massachusetts, who ran for President of the United States about 11 years ago, and he said very famously, “I was for it before I was against it.” You remember it. And now that’s the same numbskull who is negotiating deals for us around the world—John Kerry,” the Republican presidential hopeful said. “I’m sure we’re all just so thrilled to have tough guy John Kerry dealing with the world’s powers. He was for it before he was against it. Well, now his other Secretary of State, Obama’s other Secretary of State who wants to be President. Now she was for it before she was against it. And she compares a group of Americans who believe in the Second Amendment to the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world. Really nice.”
