The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of U.S. politics, business dynamics, and philanthropic trends within the context of the Jewish community and possess the skills to shape compelling narratives. This role includes overseeing our daily newsletter, a crucial element of our engagement strategy.

Responsibilities:

Editorial Leadership:

  • Provide strategic editorial direction to ensure coverage aligns with the publication’s mission and serves the needs and interests of our diverse readership.
  • Lead and inspire a team of writers, setting high standards for quality, accuracy, and relevance in reporting.
  • Collaborate with contributors to develop engaging and informative content that reflects the publication’s commitment to offering new ideas and initiatives.

Newsletter Management:

  • Oversee the planning and execution of our daily newsletter, ensuring timely and relevant content is curated for our audience.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to create newsletter content that complements and enhances our digital news platform.
  • Monitor newsletter analytics to assess performance and implement strategies for continuous improvement.

Content Management:

  • Curate, commission, and edit articles on U.S. politics, business, and philanthropy, ensuring they meet the highest standards of journalistic integrity and relevance.
  • Foster a culture of excellence in storytelling, ensuring content is accessible and compelling for readers across different ideological backgrounds.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key figures in U.S. politics, business, and philanthropy to facilitate exclusive and insightful coverage.

Team Management:

  • Manage and mentor a team of writers, providing guidance and feedback to enhance their skills and professional development.
  • Conduct regular editorial meetings to discuss upcoming coverage, assess performance, and brainstorm innovative story ideas.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including marketing and design, to ensure a cohesive and impactful presentation of content.

Community Engagement:

  • Engage with civic and communal leaders to understand their perspectives and stay informed about current issues and trends.
  • Foster relationships with a diverse range of individuals and organizations to expand the publication’s network and bring new voices and ideas to our readership.

Digital Optimization:

  • Stay informed about digital media trends and implement strategies to optimize content for online platforms.
  • Work closely with the technical team to ensure the publication’s website and other digital channels provide a seamless and engaging user experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an editor in a digital news environment, with a focus on U.S. politics, business, or philanthropy.
  • Deep understanding of the Jewish community and its intersections with politics, business, and philanthropy.
  • Exceptional editing and writing skills, with a demonstrated ability to tell compelling stories.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Familiarity with digital media platforms and SEO best practices.
  • Experience in managing and optimizing daily newsletters.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
