Report: Chelsea and Ivanka Declare Truce

Some nachas in the race for president!

The two daughters of the two leading presidential candidates have opted for a truce while their parents are firing rockets at each other.

“Chelsea [Clinton] called Ivanka [Trump] and broke the ice after Donald said Hillary was a liar and blamed her for the world being in flames,” a source close to the situation revealed to the NY Daily News.

Last week, The Daily Mail reported that Ivanka and Chelsea’s friendship is “on hold” due to their parents bitter presidential battle. A source close to the two told The Daily News, “Over time, they had developed a real relationship, a real friendship, and had a mutual respect for each other based on their upbringing, being in the spotlight, their parents, scandals, their history. And in the beginning (when Hillary and Trump announced they were throwing their hats in the ring) it was lighthearted. Everything was OK. Since then, it has gotten very strained.”

Apparently, Chelsea phoned Ivanka to wish her a Happy New Year and the two agreed not to let the 2016 election ruin their friendship. “Because Chelsea is more experienced in politics, she wanted to move forward,” the source was quoted as saying. “She knows not to take these things personally.”

The Donald came under fire recently for using a derogatory Yiddish term to mock Hillary’s defeat in 2008. “Even a race to Obama, she was gonna beat Obama. I don’t know who would be worse; I don’t know, how could it be worse? But she was going to beat — she was favored to win — and she got schlonged, she lost, I mean she lost,” Trump said during a campaign rally in Michigan last month. On Sunday, Trump doubled down, accusing Hillary of staying married to Bill Clinton, who he called an abuser.

Hillary forcefully responded to the attacks, telling CBS’s Face the Nation that Trump’s attacks “didn’t work before, won’t work again.”

“If he wants to engage in personal attacks from the past, that is his prerogative. You know, so be it,” Clinton said. “There are very clear distinctions. He can say whatever he wants about me. Let the voters judge that. But I am not going to let him or any of the other Republicans rip away the progress that we have. It has been too hard fought for. And I am going to stand up and make it clear there is a huge difference between us.”

The two daughters, who are both married to Jewish men, have agreed not to try and broker a truce between their parents, the Daily News report said.

The recent developments are shaping up what is considered to be the “most Jewish” presidential race in history, according to presidential historian and former White House Jewish Liasion, Tevi Troy. “Think about it, both leading candidates, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, have machatunim (Jewish in-laws),” Troy remarked during a recent gathering in New York. “I can’t think of any other country where the leading candidates have machatunim — except Israel.”
