Cruz: I Can Be Trusted on Moving Embassy to Jerusalem

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz celebrated his 45th birthday in Little Rock, Arkansas, by pledging to follow through on his promise to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on Day One.

Listing off his to-do list on the first day in office during a pre-holidays campaign rally, Cruz said unlike his GOP rivals and presidents in the past, his pledge to move the embassy to Israel’s capital will be a promise given is a promise kept. “You know, a lot of presidential candidates – both Democrats and Republicans – have made that same promise. [But] when they get to the White House they don’t do it,” Cruz stated as he took a long pause. “Ted will,” a supporter shouted out. To which Cruz responded, “You’re right.”

“The reason is: their teams come to them and say, ‘If we do this, this is going to make other folks in the Middle East really, really unhappy,'” the Texas Senator explained.

“Well, you happen to notice,” he contended, “they are already pretty unhappy.”

“The single biggest difference between me and the other very fine men and women standing on that same stage is that with me when I tell you I’m going to do something, I am going to do exactly what I said I was going to do,” Cruz said to loud applause.

All of the candidates have so far declared their support for moving the embassy and recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Except Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump. Earlier this month, during an appearance at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s Presidential Forum in DC, Trump refused to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s “undivided capital.”

“I want to wait until I meet with Bibi,” Trump said, referring to the now-canceled trip to Israel to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
