Level Three Labs (the parent company of The Circuit, Jewish Insider and EJP) is looking for a talented, hard-working Chief Operating Officer to lead our day-to-day digital operations team. This role will be responsible for spearheading the growth and new initiatives required to take our publications and overall organization to the next level.

As COO, you will primarily oversee the non-editorial aspects of our business, including revenue, marketing and new product efforts. Our managing editors are responsible for ensuring top-notch journalism, your job will be to support their work by maximizing our distribution and helping ensure our longterm financial viability.

The full-time role reports to the CEO and will work closely with the managing editors of our three publications to ensure operational excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Scope and execute a growth strategy for each publication
• Spearhead our Insider Access premium membership tier and events
• Oversee a small but effective in-house day-to-day operations team and manage our relationships with outside vendors
• Work with our Director of Revenue on boosting our advertising efforts
• Formulate and implement L3L’s talent acquisition strategies and pipelines
• Oversee HR functions, including onboarding of new staff and freelancers and compliance with best organizational practices

Qualifications

• 5 – 10 years’ of managerial experience
• A passion for the coverage areas of the three publications
• Excellent judgement
• Strong initiative
• Familiarity with leading news organizations and how they operate
• Strategic planning and business development experience
• Strong written and verbal and presentation skills
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
