Hillary Touts Foreign Policy Bona Fides in New Ad

The campaign of Democratic presidential frontrunner on Monday released a new web ad touting Hillary Clinton’s “impressive” record as Secretary of State in the first term of the Obama administration.

The 5-minute video features former diplomats and officials, as well as world leaders, heaping praise on Clinton, including former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, former Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard, retired Navy Seal Eric Gardiner, who cited her leadership role in deftly navigating a dangerous world.

“From brokering a ceasefire in Gaza that stopped rockets from raining down on Israel, to twisting arms to build a crippling sanctions coalition that brought Iran to the negotiating table, to elevating the fight for equality for women and girls .. Clinton’s work as Secretary of State not only makes her uniquely prepared to serve as our next commander-in-chief, but sheds light on the kind of leadership she would bring to the Oval Office,” the campaign said in a statement.

On Sunday, former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney argued that Hillary’s record as Secretary of State “will become the focal point of the debates in 2016 when a Republican nominee goes after that record.”

“She was badly mistaken and her mistaken perspective on foreign policy has led to the fact that, frankly, there’s no place in the world that I can think of where American interests have been bettered by virtue of Hillary Clinton having served as Secretary of State,” Romney charged.
