Head of Adelson-Backed EMET Endorses Cruz

The campaign of Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is expected to roll out another Jewish endorsement later on Wednesday.

“I have worked with many congressional and Senate offices for many years, and there is no stronger advocate for Israel and the Jewish people than Senator Cruz,” Sarah Stern, president and founder of EMET (Endowment for Middle East Truth), said in a statement obtained exclusively by Jewish Insider. “We have worked closely on bringing justice to victims of Iranian and Palestinian terror, and stopping the Iran nuclear deal. Speaking as an individual, I cannot wait to work with President Cruz and turn our country around.”

EMET is a non-profit organization that works for media balance in coverage of the Arab-Israeli conflict in the Middle East. On its website, the organization describes itself as “the first unabashedly pro-Israel and pro-American think tank and policy shop on Capitol Hill.” The organization also holds seminars on topics related to the Middle East and the Arab-Israeli Conflict.

Cruz received the organization’s “Speaker of Truth” award in 2013.

For what it’s worth, GOP mega-donor Sheldon Adelson is a supporter of the organization. In 2008, the Adelson Family Foundation sponsored a series of seminars held on Capitol Hill under the title “Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Policy Seminar Series.”

Cruz and Marco Rubio are considered favorites in ‘The Adelson primary’ – in line to receive the coveted endorsement of the Vegas casino mogul in the Republican presidential primaries.

On Tuesday, Dr. Ben Chouake, president of NORPAC, the nation’s largest pro-Israel political action committee, endorsed Cruz’s bid for president.

“Having worked closely with Sarah and EMET, we are proud to earn her support,” Cruz said in a statement to Jewish Insider. “Leaders of the Jewish and pro-Israel community are coming together to elect a president who is willing to stand up to tackle special interests in both parties in order to stand unapologetically with Israel.”
