Economist and national commentator Larry Kudlow all but declared a Senate run against Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal on Sunday.

“I can’t announce it today, there are all kinds of legal and financial ramifications, but I can only tell you that [my wife] and I are looking at it very carefully,” Kudlow told John Catsimatidis on “The Cats Roundtable” radio program on AM 970 in New York.

Kudlow first announced he was considering to challenge the incumbent Democratic Senator after Blumenthal announced his support for the Iran nuclear deal.

On Sunday, Kudlow maintained that his disagreements with Blumenthal on national security and foreign policy are what are pushing him to mount a challenge in 2016. “Mr. Blumenthal was wrong on signing the Iran deal. He was wrong on pushing for the UN to bring Syrian hostages into the United States,” Kudlow asserted. “He is wrong for not supporting a war declaration against ISIS, and he doesn’t want more troops on the ground.”
