Ivanka Trump ‘Incredibly Proud’ of Her Dad’s Campaign

Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, is very proud of her dad’s presidential campaign.

In a conversation at the Fortune “Most Powerful Women” summit on Wednesday, Ivanka, founder and CEO of the Ivanka Trump Collection and Executive VP at The Trump organization, said she’s “incredibly proud” of him that he is “changing the dialogue and disrupting the process.”

Asked if she’s “happy” that her dad is running for president, she responded: “That’s a complicated question.” Adding, “Happy is an interesting word.”

“As a citizen, I love what he’s doing. As a daughter, it’s obviously more complicated because the level of interest and scrutiny is beyond everything I’ve experienced,” she explained. “I couldn’t be more proud of him. I’ve seen him inspiring hundred of thousands of people, throughout my lifetime, to achieve good things. He’s an unbelievable leader.”

Ivanka declined to reveal whether she had discussed the public feud with Fox News host Megyn Kelly with her father, but she did say that the issue was “very much sensationalized.”

“I can only talk about the experience I’ve had. I’m a female executive at his company – at the highest level,” she stressed. “And I wouldn’t be the person I am today if he didn’t deeply believe in opportunity for women.”

During the conversation, Ivanka, who converted to Judaism in 2009 and keeps a modern-Orthodox Jewish lifestyle, mentioned her observance of Sabbath, without mentioning it by name. “Weekends are incredibly important to me. I sill not schedule things on wekeends,” she said. “Friday, I cook family dinners, we all come together, and until Saturday night we don’t take any commitments.”

In an interview with JNS.org in the spring, Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump said he has “great respect for [the Shabbat traditions], and I see Ivanka during Saturday, and from Friday evening on through Saturday night, she won’t take phone calls and they live a very interesting life.”

I'm thrilled to be here in D.C. at The Most Powerful Women Summit hosted by Fortune. Catch my interview with Pattie Sellers live now!
