American-Jewish organizations are urging the public to stand in solidarity with the citizens of Israel as they face horror and bloodshed in the recent wave of violence across Israel.

“We are stunned and deeply troubled by the recent terrorist attacks in Israel which have continued to escalate since an innocent Israeli couple was barbarically shot to death in their car in front of their four children,” Michael Siegal, Chair of the Board of the Jewish Federations of North America, said in a statement on Tuesday. “We remain horrified by these acts of terror and our thoughts and prayers are with these victims and their families. With each of these murders an entire family is shattered and will never be the same. Our hearts ache for their loss as we hope for this violence to end.”

“No family should have to endure such pain and suffering. There is no possible justification for these senseless attacks and we continue to stand in solidarity with the State of Israel,” added Jerry Silverman, president of the Jewish Federations.

The Orthodox Union also issued a press release in support of the Israeli government and its efforts to provide the necessary security for its citizens. “We appreciate that the U.S. Administration has called the spate of attacks what it is — “terrorism” — but we call upon President Barack Obama and other world leaders to exert their influence on the Palestinian Authority to end this wave of violence and to support the Israeli government’s security efforts without reservation,” the leadership of the nation’s largest Orthodox Jewish umbrella organization said in a statement. “‘Balanced’ statements calling on ‘both sides’ to work for calm are wrong when it is abundantly clear that one side is fomenting violence against innocents.”

The group also called on Jewish members to “communicate with their representatives in Congress, who are at home in their districts this week to vocally support Israel in the face of this terror campaign.”

Last week, the Conference of presidents of major U.S> organizations called on the Obama administration, “which provides hundreds of millions of dollars of funding each year to the Palestinian Authority,” to demand that “Palestinian officials act decisively to curb the violence. We know that President Abbas can impact the ‘Palestinian street’ when he wants to.”
