Foreign Policy is likely to play a bigger role in the 2016 presidential election than in the past, Senator Bob Corker (R-TN), Chairman of the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, said on Tuesday.

In an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program, the Republican Senator that while domestic issues are likely to determine the elections in the fall of 2016, turmoil in the Middle East, the failed U.S. policy in Syria and the Iran nuclear deal dominating the summer news cycle, will place America’s foreign policy as an important issue on voters mind.

“I think foreign policy is going tp play a much bigger role than ever,” Corker told host Joe Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski.

In the 2012 presidential election, foreign policy played a minor role, with only 5 percent of voters citing it as the most important issue on their minds, according to exit polls.
