Rubio Meets with Adelson in Vegas

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio met privately with GOP mega-donor Sheldon Adelson in Las Vegas on Thursday during a three-day visit to Nevada.

Rubio is in Nevada for the weekend to attend a private meeting with donors titled the “Quarter Four Strategy Summit” that will include a flag football game, a “team talk” and a strategy session called “Quarterbacking Victory,” according to the LV Sun.

On Thursday, Rubio held a campaign rally in Summerlin, just 20 miles away from the Las Vegas Strip. According to Vegas-based reporter Jon Ralston, the Florida Senator seized the opportunity to meet with Adelson at his office.

Rubio is rumored to be the leading favorite to win the coveted Adelson endorsement. In the 2012 presidential election, he doled out $92 million, including $20 million for New Gingrich in the GOP primary.

Sheldon didn’t make any commitment at the meeting on Thursday, a source said.

Rubio was the first presidential candidate to talk out about the need of America to stand with Israel in the wake of a recent escalation in violence and terror attacks against Israelis.

In a post published on Medium, on Thursday, Rubio criticized the Obama administration for not speaking out in a forceful manner in defense of Israel. “President Obama refuses to criticize Abbas or demand that he stop the incitement and violence. Instead, the administration plays the moral equivalence game,” Rubio wrote. “By distancing the United States from Israel, President Obama has created an atmosphere that rewards the provocative behavior of the Palestinian Authority.”

He also called out Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton for being silent. “This is not surprising given that as Secretary of State she led many of the Obama administration’s attacks on Israel,” Rubio charged. “Indeed, the indifference that President Obama and Hillary Clinton display toward incitement and violence against Jews fits a long-running pattern of callousness and neglect toward the Jewish state.”
