Senator John McCain (R-AZ) wants Republicans to go nuclear, urging a lawsuit against the Obama administration over the Iran nuclear deal.

“I think he’s in defiance of the law and I believe we should have lawsuits that bring justice,” McCain told The Brody File in an interview published Thursday.

After failing to stop the deal in Congress, the next crucial date is October 18th – the adoption date of the nuclear deal, in which Iran would need to start moving out its enriched uranium and abide by the terms of the deal before receiving sanctions relief.

But according to Republican lawmakers, the Corker-Cardin bill, Obama signed into law earlier this year, required the administration to turn over “all related materials and annexes” related to the Iran deal before Congress gets 60 days to review the deal. However, details of a side deal between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that oversees the inspections of Iran’s nuclear sites hasn’t been obtained. What that means is that under federal law it is illegal for Obama to lift sanctions.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who is also running fore president, has already threatened banks and financial institutions to hold back the money or else face “billions of dollars in civil liabilities and litigation.”

McCain was initially reluctant to call for a lawsuit, just generally stating that the seriousness of the Iran deal “argues for us to look at any possible option that we can.”

But on Thursday, McCain said he believes that the next step to be taken is a challenge in court. “We ought to go to court on this one, because I believe it’s in violation of the law that was passed that required a full and complete understanding of all the details of the agreement,” he told CBN News.
