Former ADL national director Abraham Foxman has joined The Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Tel Aviv, where he will serve as a distinguished nonresident fellow working on issues of combating anti-Semitism and assaults on the State of Israel, the Israeli defense and national security institute announced Wednesday.

Mr. Foxman retired in July after serving for 50 years under several duties at the Anti-Defamation League, including 28 years as national director. He currently serves as the ADL’s National Director Emeritus.

According to the news release, Mr. Foxman’s research work at the Israeli think tank will include promoting Israeli-American relations and Israel-Jewish diaspora relations.

“I’ve always seen Abe as an undeclared leader of the American Jewish Community and a leading global figure on matters of human dignity and moral conduct,” Maj. Gen. Amos Yadlin, INSS Director, said in a statement. “Abe’s broad array of relationships, which includes senior government officials in the United States, senior religious officials at the Vatican, and heads of state from around the world, will greatly strengthen our ability to engage in and promote vital public policy research. His unique, life-long experience in combating anti-Semitism will be an important contribution, especially as Israel fends off the anti-Israel BDS movement that aims to undermine its legitimacy and threaten its security. He brings to INSS a ‘battle-tested’ toolbox for countering anti-Semitism, anti-Zionism and anti-Israeli organizations.”

Former Likud Minister Gideon Sa’ar, Knesset member Tzipi Livni, Cabinet Secretary Maj. Gen. (ret.) Avihai Mandelblit; Maj. Gen. (ret.) Yair Naveh; and former MK Yohanan Plesner are among the notable public figures at INSS.
