Cardin: No Delay in Friedman’s Confirmation Hearing

WASHINGTON – Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) denied a Ynet report on Tuesday that the confirmation process for David Friedman, President Trump’s nominee for US Ambassador to Israel, has been stalled for political purposes. When asked if lawmakers were delaying his confirmation, the ranking Democratic member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee told Jewish Insider, “Not at all. None the least. We still have not gotten all of the material that is required before we can move forward.”

According to the Ynet report, Republican concerns over Friedman’s unwillingness to back a two-state solution was obstructing the Trump nominee’s confirmation. The article did not cite any sources for this claim.

With many of Trump’s cabinet secretaries still not approved by the Senate, it is not unusual for hearings at the Ambassador level to take longer.
